Job Title: Senior Commercial Manager

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £65,000

Type: Permanent

Start Date: Immediately (flexible for notice periods)

We are hiring for a Senior Commercial Manager that has experience and an ability to implement the principles of construction contract practice in Birmingham. This is a client facing role working on a variety of projects, enabling you to lead from the front, freedom to manage the delivery of your projects, whilst deferring to the senior colleagues for support on larger projects and to determine strategy.

Duties of a Senior Commercial Manager

In this role you will be working in the Development Services joint to the team based in Birmingham reporting into the Associate Director you will be responsible for:

  • Cost planning, this will include producing cost plans for commercial purposes
  • Preparation of tender documents
  • Preparing construction documents
  • Preparation of reports through the project processes
  • Pre and post contract duties on a variety of public and commercial projects
  • Visiting sites to conduct assessment of interim valuations and final accounts
  • Perform the role of employer’s agent or contract administration services

Skills and experience of a Senior Commercial Manager

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you need have experience with:

  • Working knowledge of JCT Contract
  • An ability to implement the principles of construction contract practice
  • A strong desire to learn and develop professional skills
  • Time management and organisation skills
  • Report writing and communication skills
  • IT skills – Excel essential
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • Pragmatic approach and ability to amend planned activities at short notice

It would be beneficial to the Senior Commercial Manager role if you also had:

  • Knowledge of the RIBA Stages
  • Problem solving
  • An awareness of risk management
  • An understanding of our company’s performance commitments
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Knowledge of other forms of contracts
  • RICS accreditation

About the Client

Our client is a multi-disciplinary consultancy, employing over 5,000 staff worldwide that are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join their project on a permanent basis. Due to growth in the Development Services, they are seeking to appoint a Senior Commercial Manager joint to the team based in Birmingham and reporting into the Associate Director. The client offers training and guidance on existing processes that will be supported by experienced team members currently engaged on the work. The company is committed to helping and achieve Chartered Status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In return, the client offers a competitive salary.
